Water Aerobics!

I just got back from my first Prenatal Water Aerobics Class. This is the 3rd class I am taking with Oh Baby Fitness. If you are pregnant, thinking of getting pregnant or have a baby in the Atlanta area, I highly suggest looking into these classes. And if you don't live here, I am sure there is something equivalent in your city. Not only are you exercising, but you are interacting with a group of women who are going through the same thing you are. They encourage conversation/dialog between the pregos and I always learn something new.

This was my first try at water aerobics. It is not as easy at it looks. That seems to be a reoccuring theme, nothing about this has been as easy as it looks. Other than thinking the baby might splash out at any moment, it was a good all over body workout.

This is what I kept thinking of the entire time:

New Addition to the Hinson Family!

no, the baby is not here yet

and

no, we did not get another dog....

My dad and John got us a Jeep! They wanted to get one on my birthday just as my dad got a CJ as a birthday surprise for my mother in 1981 but they were 9 days too late.

Please meet our 1976 CJ-5.

She is a real beauty.

Boys and their Toys!

They can't wait to use it for quail hunting

Momma and Baby even took it for a spin!

I have been trying to figure out if John is going through a quarter life crisis (little too old) or a mid life crisis (little too young) or a holy moly I am about to have a baby crisis (just right)!!!!

I am just going to stay home from now on....

Ace Hardware:

check out lady: You due soon?

Kyle: (laughing) If you consider 2 months soon.

check out lady: You are runnin' out of room.

Fresh Market:

Kyle: holding her stomach while walking around the bakery
(not buying, just looking)

deli lady: Do we need to call a doctor?

Kyle: I wish.

deli lady: (laughing)

Kyle: I've got 2 more months.

deli lady: (eyes bulging) oooooh

check out man: You due any day?

Kyle: (choking) Uh, I've got 2 more months.

check out man: well my sister just had a baby and she delivered a month early.....(man is still talking)

Kyle: (stress level going through roof thinking about things that won't be done if I deliver a month early)

Not good for hormonal pregnant woman's self esteem. And I thought I looked all right.

The doctor's office called this morning and after taking blood on Monday, have found that my iron levels are low and are prescribing iron supplements for me. Just dandy.

28 week Doctor's Appointment

We had our 28 week appointment this morning even though we are 29 weeks but due to spring break last week, I pushed back the appointment to this morning so I could see one of the doctors in the practice that I had yet to meet. They suggest doing this so in case your regular doctor isn't the doctor on call when you deliver, you don't have a complete stranger delivering your baby. Makes sense.

Today they did the glucose screening test to check for gestational diabetes. You have to score lower than 135. I got a 106, whew. I am sure the scrambled eggs (protein!) John made me this morning helped but I sure didn't think about this last night when I ate an entire pint of Haagan-Dazs Pineapple Coconut ice cream, minus the 3 bites that John ate.

I also confirmed my self-diagnosis. Call me Dr. Kyle. After weeks of severe numbness and tingling in my hands and arms, I did some online research yesterday and came to the conclusion that I am suffering from gestational carpal tunnel syndrome. The doctor confirmed my diagnosis. My mother suffered from CTS (not during her pregnancies) to the point where she had surgery for it so she has lent me her wrist braces. I wore them all day yesterday and as long as I am wearing them, there is no numbness or tingling. And I wore them last night and actually slept a little better. Can I get an Amen?! Every little bit helps at this point. Evidently, this condition goes away after the baby gets here. Let's hope that is true.

************************************************

On Saturday we attended the childbirth class from 9 to 5 at Piedmont. John says he hope real childbirth is shorter than the class was. It was informative and we definitely learned some things. Out of 16 couples, there were 3 couples that did not know the sex of their baby. I always find that statistic interesting. In my prenatal pilates class I was the only person out of 8 not finding out...I digress. They showed some very graphic videos of childbirth, very graphic, like you see it all. And they did this right before we broke for lunch, not very appetizing.

They talk about the importance of laboring at home in the beginning stages. I don't see that happening.

We had to try 4 different positions for relieving labor pains, some of which involved tubs, chairs and balls. I don't see that happening either.

They passed around a box of items you will see in the hospital and each couple had to take one and then figure out what it does and explain it to the class. John pulled out the phone that will be in the hospital room. Ok, so it is a phone, not hard to figure out. Some of the other items were scary looking. Well, when it was our turn to explain our item John says, "We got a phone, so she can call Central City Tavern and let me know the baby has arrived." Really? Too bad they just tore it down, JOHN!

Next class: Breastfeeding for Couples on April 4

What'll Ya Have?

Well, in addition to the baby's Sunday favorites: a chili dog and onion rings....

the man behind the counter thought I needed a hat!

So not to let him down, I wore it.

the baby also enjoyed a F.O. for dessert.

The baby has really enjoyed eating at The Varsity just about every Sunday after church in 2009. Good thing our church is only 2 blocks away from The V.

St. Patrick's Day ~ NYC, Rockefeller Center

March 17, 2005

In honor of St. Patty's Day coming up next Tuesday, this is my fave pic of the week. St. Patrick's Day is one of my top 2 all time favorite holidays, the other being 4th of July. This picture was taken right after The Today Show finished airing and after Al Roker kissed me on the cheek. Yep, Al Roker kissed me on the cheek because my bag said, "Kiss me, I'm Irish!" We then proceeded to the New York City St. Patty's Day Parade which is a big deal up there.

The day ended with lots of green beer and some old firemen in kilts.

Overall, just a fun fun day that could never be repeated.

Being 30....

is tiring!

Or is it being 7 months pregnant in 85 degree weather in MARCH? You people who had babies in July and August...more power to you. Real shoes were officially retired as of yesterday. Flip Flops and sandals from now on.

I have lots to post but just can't find the energy to do it right now.

3rd Trimester and a 30th Birthday

That is a lot of 3's at one time.

Sunday marks 28 weeks and the beginning of the 3rd trimester. This pregnancy has flown by. Some of the days have been very long but overall I cannot believe we are in the home stretch. Things are getting very exciting now. Our crib and dresser/changing table arrived on Friday along with some pieces of the bedding for the full bed that is staying in the baby's room. It is all so sweet and precious and looks great with the pale yellow walls. I am drawn to the room and love being in there and it is not near finished yet so I can't wait for the end result. I can't wait for the baby to get here. I also pre-registered at Piedmont on Friday via the internet. That took 30 minutes and at the end they ask you to print out everything and bring it with you. What? So I printed 5 copies and will put a copy in both cars, the hospital bags, maybe give one to the grandmothers, etc. to make sure it makes it to the hospital. I thought the idea of pre-registering was to avoid this step, maybe I am confused.

Monday marks someone's 30th birthday....

so

We are leaving on Sunday after church to go to Adairsville and staying at Barnesley Gardens for the night.

John is taking his guns and has several appointments lined up at the Orvis Shooting Grounds. I will be tagging along and happily watching, hopefully with my feet up while reading on the kindle. I have been looking forward to this mini trip for months. And no, this is not our babymoon.

John has taken Monday off to spend the day with me. Sweet guy.

Not exactly what I pictured my 30th birthday to be like but God had greater plans for our family. I am having lots of deep thoughts about this birthday so maybe I will share those next week.

And considering this is where I spent my 21st birthday, I am more than happy to lay low for this birthday!

Tally Ho ~ Belle Meade Fox Hunt ~ Thomson

November 2005

This is one of my favorite pictures from my two Tally Ho experiences,
even though it is not of Roy Dean.

This picture reminds me of the old school Stetson Cologne ads....
don't you see the resemblence?

or maybe it was the Marlboro Man minus the stoagie....

It only took 9, 7 and 5 years......

....but our diplomas have finally been framed and hung!

Nothing like havin' a baby to make you get things done!

Only wall space left in the house!

And I made the mistake of telling John that he could do whatever he wanted to in this room of the house, The Men's Den.

Cashiers

Our weekend started off by shopping the outlets in Dawsonville.

While at the Pottery Barn Outlet, Lauren holds up this outfit and says,
"Kyle, this looks like a newborn Hinson size."

Too funny!

After shopping we went to Montaluce Winery & Estates in Dahlonega for lunch at Le Vigne.

We pull up to the Reddick's house, Point of View, and my dream car was waiting on me. I squealed and started tearing up. Most women wish for convertible BMWs, Mercedes, Audis, Saabs....not me!

This is my dream car, John has it so lucky:

I would love to drive carpool in this beauty!
The older the better.....

And it already has bumper stickers suitable for the Hinsons:

Georgia, The Varsity & Quails Unlimited

And it plays Glory Glory (to Old Georgia)!

Friday night we had dinner with our broker at Jenny Pruitt at Log Cabin in Highlands.

Rob and Henry love the pretty ladies and they treat us so well!

Saturday was spent with my feet elevated for most of the day due to swelling!

We were able to get off the mountain on Sunday before the snow and ice really came down.

The baby's room has been painted and it turned out beautifully. Yellow can be a tricky color but it really is so pretty and soothing. John worked his tail off this weekend at the house and it shows.

My mom took this picture so I don't know if this is the primer or the yellow but it is hard to capture the yellow on camera. It looks awesome in person!

Now we wait for the furniture to be delivered so we can start decorating!

In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb

Happy first day of March!

Nothing like coming home from a weekend away to a family snow outing to Chastain!
