Shrimping

Daddy and Granddaddy went Shrimping on Thursday with Granddaddy's friend, Jim.

They left our beach house at 4:15 am to drive an hour and get to the dock by 5:15 am.

Sun starting to rise!

Nets going in

Birds patiently waiting for any leftovers!

There were also sharks that followed the boat and boats of fishermen following the sharks. HA!

Shrimp coming out

The loot

In addition to shrimp, you also catch fish, sharks, squid, seaweed, sting rays, etc.

And all of this has to be sorted by the crew ----> Daddy and Granddaddy!

They only keep the shrimp and toss everything else back into the sea

Ugly little fellas

I think Daddy was scared at this sight!

Chilling

Back to the dock, safely

JC = Jim Cook

I was impressed by the quanity and quality of pictures these two took!

I have trained them well.

a very tired Daddy and Granddaddy

After 12 hours, this is all of the shrimp they got

Just kidding! That was our dinner.

They ended up with 360 pounds of shrimp.

Jim does this for fun, not for a living. Wow.

Daddy and Granddaddy were exhausted by the time they got back to Topsail at 6:oo that evening. They were too tired to talk and went to bed early!

"Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it."
