Wednesday Pool Day IV

Katie, Lindsey, Kyle and Carrie

Lindsey hosted us yesterday at her club for lunch and pool side sunning.

We had lunch on the veranda then headed to the pool, sans babies!

This is the only picture I took because I was enjoying myself so much!

Shrimping

Daddy and Granddaddy went Shrimping on Thursday with Granddaddy's friend, Jim.

They left our beach house at 4:15 am to drive an hour and get to the dock by 5:15 am.

Sun starting to rise!

Nets going in

Birds patiently waiting for any leftovers!

There were also sharks that followed the boat and boats of fishermen following the sharks. HA!

Shrimp coming out

The loot

In addition to shrimp, you also catch fish, sharks, squid, seaweed, sting rays, etc.

And all of this has to be sorted by the crew ----> Daddy and Granddaddy!

They only keep the shrimp and toss everything else back into the sea

Ugly little fellas

Granddaddy behind the wheel

I think Daddy was scared at this sight!

Chilling

Back to the dock, safely

JC = Jim Cook

I was impressed by the quanity and quality of pictures these two took!

I have trained them well.

a very tired Daddy and Granddaddy

After 12 hours, this is all of the shrimp they got

Just kidding! That was our dinner.

They ended up with 360 pounds of shrimp.

Jim does this for fun, not for a living. Wow.

Daddy and Granddaddy were exhausted by the time they got back to Topsail at 6:oo that evening. They were too tired to talk and went to bed early!

"Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it."

Topsail ~ Day 3

WEDNESDAY

Another beautiful day at the beach

monogrammed bathing suit = a must!

a Daddy that resembles Magnum PI = added bonus

Chest hair and all. Oh.My.Word.

So John has been sporting this Detroit Tigers hat for a couple of years now. At first, it really annoyed me. If he's going to wear a Professional Baseball team hat, at least let it be for our home team! But Ty Cobb, famous Detroit player, lived in Augusta next door to John's Grandfather. And they were good friends, so I get it, Detroit Tigers has sentimental meaning to John.

But what I learned on our trip to the beach, was that Magnum also wore a Detriot hat. I about fell out of my chair when Saj informed me of this. I tried to explain to Saj that it was because of Ty Cobb....now I'm not so sure.

They also share a love for short shorts, but that is another post for another day.

Hanging out in the tidal pool

FB loving the water

FB loving Daddy

Daddy loving FB

Fun with beach toys

After her nap and a wardrobe change, FB would enjoy the baby pool on the deck, in the shade by now, so no need for lubing up with sunscreen. Worked out great!

This ball was purchased on the trip, huge hit!

Oh the hair

Concerned because her buddy is leaving

She didn't take her eyes off of him until he came back!

Aunt Courtney bought Fla-Vor-Ice popsicles

and helped FB eat her first one!

I love how FB guides Courtney's hand with her own

Prune

She loved it, of course

Aunt Courts trying to tell Fannie it was "all done"

Making sure they get every drop

Guess I need to get some for our freezer!
